Rovers & Horden travelled to Sunderland with a strong squad of 18, despite being missing a number of players due to injury and unavailability. Sunderland started stongest with a great individual try from their powerful No. 8, who was impressive throughout. The away teams response was swift with tries from the ever-impressive Luke and speedster Dennis. Rovers & Horden put some good phases of play together, broke the gain line well and kicked intelligengly. Sunderland used their big forwards well with their stand-off pulling the strings both in attack and defence. The game was even at half time but Rovers & Horden started the second half well with three unanswered tries, which was enough, ultimately, to seal the season's first win for visitors.

MOTM in the forwards was James who worked tirelessly in the tight, tackled well and carried strongly. Daniel was pick of the backs with some good kicking, intelligent distribution of the ball and crucially, 5 from 6 conversions.

More impressive though was the team effort, with everyone playing their part in what is and ever-improving team. Next up is Bishop Auckland at Horden.
