Ryton festival 27/01/19.
Rovers u15’s put in a great performance in horrendous artic conditions today, the wind felt like it was -15.
Teaming up with Horden we fielded 19 players, 12 Rovers and 7 from Horden, we faced a strong Ryton side. Our rucking was superb and we held them back. Unfortunately this sucked our players in and strong running brought a number of tries for Ryton.
Next up was Barney/Bishop/Consett, we had upped our determination and aggression. This was a much better performance, strong in attack and defence. We scored three unanswered tries with Millie Addison converting one.
Final game was Houghton and much like the first game it came to breakaway tries, our second half performance was much better and we were unlucky not to pip it.
In summary your attitude’s were first class, the weather was horrific but not one of you moaned, proper team spirit.
Things to improve on are body positions going into contact and positioning in defence, we kept bunching up behind the ball leaving big space’s out wide.
Positives, our rucking was class and I don’t think we lost one ball at a ruck today, our running was strong and direct, kick offs were good too.
Big, big thank you for the parents today for your support and especially with lifts, I hope you have defrosted and stopped shaking.
