Andrea Turner will be roller skating 50 miles in June to raise money for our Under 15s.

As far as fund raising activities go we think this is a first. But Andrea has set herself the target of 50 miles in June to raise money for her sons under 15s team.

Andrea has only recently started skating again after a long time off the wheels. The last time Andrea skated was in her youth. A keen runner, Andrea has been looking for other activities to help keep fit and healthy but take some strain off the knees.

"I have only been roller skating since February this year having started to try and lose some lockdown weight. It is difficult to do and it took me a little while to get the balance and confidence. But now I try and do 4 miles in one go."

Andrea was inspired to do the challenge after attending her sons end of season presentation. "My son Kian plays for the under 15s and it was amazing to see what the club does for their players and the time and effort the volunteer coaches put in. There were some really kind words said about the players and I wanted to help give something back and raise some funds to go towards kit for the lads"

Andrea is already well underway in her challenge. This isn't the first roller skating challenge Andrea has taken part in.

"In April I took part in the Big Wheels Challenge to raise funds for MacMillan. The target was 30 miles in a month and I hit 40. That was tough especially with the windy conditions. So to go an extra 10 miles will be really hard for me but I'm determined to reach my target"

If you would like to sponsor Andrea in her challenge you can do so by contacting Kev Dunn, contacting any of our social media pages @hpoolrovers, or popping into our newly refurbished club and leave your donation with Sandra.

Good luck Andrea.
