Rovers produced a devastating attacking display to secure an emphatic 84-10 victory over Middlesbrough 2nds, running in 14 tries in a dominant performance from start to finish.
The visitors wasted little time asserting themselves, crossing after just four minutes through Gunn to open the scoring. Although the conversion was missed, Rovers were quickly back on the attack and Clayton added a second try two minutes later to make it 10-0.
The points continued to flow as Lithgo, converted by Keers, stretched the lead before Keers then crossed himself and added the extras to give Rovers a commanding 24-0 advantage inside the opening 16 minutes.
A yellow card for Barnfield on 19 minutes briefly disrupted Rovers' rhythm and Middlesbrough took advantage to score their first try shortly afterwards. However, Rovers responded in style, with Wilson crossing and Keers maintaining his accuracy from the tee to extend the lead to 31-5.
The home side managed another unconverted try before the interval, leaving the score at 31-10 to Rovers at half-time.
Rovers started the second half exactly as they had the first. Trimble struck twice in quick succession, the first converted by Keers, to push the score out to 43-10. A further try from Keers himself increased the advantage before another yellow card, this time for Little on 61 minutes.
Despite being temporarily reduced in numbers, Rovers continued to dominate. Rochester crossed soon after, before Trimble completed his hat-trick with a well-taken score on 70 minutes. Tries from Harrison and Lithgo followed as Middlesbrough struggled to contain the relentless Rovers attack.
The final ten minutes brought further reward as Keers grabbed his second try of the afternoon and converted it himself, before Rochester rounded off the scoring with Rovers' 14th try, again converted by Keers, to complete the 84-10 rout.
