We are delighted to announce the launch of our Senior and Junior Girls academy

Next season will see Hartlepool Rovers launch our new look Senior and Junior Girls Rugby Academy.
The senior academy will be for under 18 girls (year 12 & 13) and the junior academy for under 16s (year 10 & 11).

The aim of the academies is to give our players the best possible chance to reach their potential whilst also improving the transition from junior to senior.

Players in our academies will benefit from:
Coaching from qualified, experienced coaches
Access to on site physio and rehabilitation from 1st Team Physiotherapy
Access to gym and PT from Dan Charters
New club stash for players
Regular coaching sessions and games.

Hartlepool Rovers has 8 years’ worth of experience coaching girls and has produced a number of players who have gone on to play for the ladies team. One of our former players has this season made her Premier15s debut for DMP Durham Sharks. Over the years we have had many players represent Durham County at under 15 & 18 and the regional North East & Cumbria Centre of Excellence. This week we received the news that two of our under 18s had been invited in to the North of England u18s training camp which if successful will see the girls progress to the full England u18s Talent Development Squad. The launch of the Academy will help attaract more players to give rugby a try at Rovers and help transition players through to our ladies side.

Along with the junior and senior academies Rovers will also be running an under 12s (y6 & 7) and under 14s (y8 & 9) teams.

England Calling
This season Rovers had 5 girls in the North East & Cumbria u18 Centre of Excellence squad. Of that five Jayme, Emma, and Katy played regularly for them. Emma and Katy have since been asked to attend the England u18 (North) Training camp. There is a North and South training camp and from those camps the England u18s squad is selected. In previous years Sophie Derbyshire also trialled for England 18s. We are immensely proud to have had 3 players reach this stage and we wish Emma and Katy the very best of luck.

Durham County
A number of our players represented Durham u18s this season. Ellie, Emma, Katy, Jayme, Kayleigh, and Jessie all did themselves and their club proud.

At under 15 level we had five girls to the initial trials. Lyla and Hannah made it through to the second round of trials. Unfortunately Hannah didn’t make it through to the final squad but Lyla Gorman did. The versatile back has been in great form this season and made her county debut last Sunday.

Presentation
We had our annual presentation evening on Friday 13th May in the club house. Over 110 people attended and were fed and watered before the prize giving ceremony.

In the under 13s Lily Stephenson was player of the year. Tilly Denning Picked up Players Player, and Millie Crangle was most improved.

At under 15s Lyla Gorman was coaches’ player of the year. Rachel Holliday was most improved player of the year, while Abbey Hall was voted Players Player of the year.

The under 18s saw Kayleigh Farrell chosen as Player of the Year with Jayme Calvert voted as players player. The most improved was Ellie Hay.
Grace Waller picked up the Endeavour award for her fantastic attitude and TREDS.
Ladies Awards

On Saturday 14th May the club held their Senior Club Dinner. This was where the ladies awards were given out. Although a difficult season for our ladies they always gave 100% and put in a number of good performances.
Player’s player of the year went to Beth Shears. Beth was a double winner when she also picked up Player of the Year. Most improved went to Adele Hewitson.

This season has been another successful one for Rovers WaGs. More players have joined our teams and we have had a lot of success. We will continue to strive to give our players the best possible rugby experience and make it an enjoyable environment where all players, no matter of their ability and experience, are welcomed into our teams.
