Hartlepool rover under 9's team have made a fantastic start to the new season. After 6 weeks of training mainly focused around tackling, the team were chomping at the bit to play a game.
Our first fixture was in a festival at South Shields Westoe, were we came up against Hartlepool RFC, Westoe RFC and Durham City RFC.
The squad available was Oscar Ward, Harry Calvert, Jay Wintersgill, Ollie Dunn, Emily Randall, Dan Mulvihill, Jack Coxon and Will Cooper.
The whole team tackled very well scoring some brilliant tries. The first two games ended in victories for rovers but Durham city proved too strong for us.
We then hosted Stockton RFC on 16th October. Rovers were boosted by the return of Joseph Langston, Jack Rudd, Charlie Rudd, Jake Turner, George Hewitt and Austin Kegans. Joseph was playing in his first ever game of rugby. The players who were not available for the first game got to play in the first game. Once again they were able to commit to the tackle. The team was rotated to give everyone the same time on the pitch. The worst thing was taking players off as they all wanted to play.
Keep up the good work.
We are training next Sunday 10:30 am at the club.
