Rovers took the lead with a penalty from Daz but West hit back with an excellent score moving fast ball to the wing with great skill to take the lead 3 – 5.
Daz missed a couple more penalties and a decision to kick to the corner paid off with the pack driving Squid over for a converted try, 10 – 5.
Daz was unlucky again hitting the post twice with penalties, the strong swirling wind wasn’t helping and a bad decision was made to run what would have been his easiest kick of the night in front of the posts.
West drew level with a trademark try from Andrew Forman who saw space and effortlessly crossed for a try, 10 – 10.
The game stayed level until 3 minutes to go but the Stags were dominating and only failed to score due to some great defence from the home team but eventually the visitors drove over and with the kick going in off the post it looked like game over.
Rovers refused to give in and forced their way up the field with some good forward play then a chip over the top from Daz gave Adam Smith the chance to outrun the defence to touch down in the corner. The conversion was well wide and the game was over at 15 – 17.
