Team: L.Saunders, M.Lidster, S.Saunders, D.Baxter, A.Boagey, J.Fleet, S.Railton, S.Hall, M.Stephenson, D.Fawcett, I.Gallagher, I.Muller, J.Montgomery, B.Cushlow, D.Thomas, J.Manness, R.Pinchen, S.Hunter, D.Stevenson, I.Flounders, C.Dowdle, A.Cooper.
Another much changed team from the normal line up with 7 stepping up from the 3rd team and 6 from the under 17’s squad.
Not a day for writing reports so only a brief one, started well with good work from Bomber Hall but as in previous weeks we were struggling badly in the scrums.
Daz went wide with a penalty after 5 minutes but hit one after 10 minutes, 3 – 0. Stockton hit straight back with one of their own, 3 – 3 13 minutes. Daz was playing a good kicking game pinning the visitors back but any ball we tried to move wide was knocked on, dropped or tied up by the Stockton midfield.
A good break by Daz saw him stopped short but a mazy run from Ben Cush shortly after gave him a well deserved try, Daz converted and also added another penalty to take the half time score to 13 – 3.
The second half was a case of damage limitation with all players feeling the cold. Dillon Stevenson, Connor Dowdle came on for their debuts with young Fuzz and Jim Manness also coming on to aid the cause.
Despite Stockton’s brave efforts they were unable to break the home defence and the score stayed unchanged to the end. Great games from Bomber, Bubbles, Ste Saunders and Matty Lidster.
Well done to the referee who kept control well and had an overall good game.
Yet again a weak team on paper played above expectations and if a lot of the players were willing to train and push for a regular second team place, all teams would benefit.
