Girls play well in first outing

5 under 18s made their way north to Alnwick to team up with Ryton for their first u18s game of the season.

Sophie H. Sophie D, Chloe, Ellie R, and Kristen all made history and became our first u18s team. They were joined by the Ryton girls and a couple from Rockcliffe.

The ladies played a full game against a combined Tynedale/Morpeth team.

The girls lost the game about 35 - 0 but the score line doesn't reflect the game. For large periods the girls played in the opposition half but couldn't get over the line.

All of the ROvers girls played their part with Sophie D putting in some trademark hits, Kristen tackling and carrying well. Chloe hit her jumpers and hooked effectively and filled in on the wing for a spell. And Ellie making her debut tackled everything that came her way and made a couple of breaks.

The experienced gained from this game is exactly what these girls need. To play a full game, 15-a-side with contested 8 man scrum and line outs is an excellent opportunity. The girls will learn more form this than they will from any training session.

On Sunday we head up to Horden for another u18 festival where once again we will team up with Ryton for more rugby. We will be bolstered by Lauren who is available as there isn't a ladies game on Sunday.
