Friarage Falcons to take part in summer rugby

A team has been entered in the summer North East Rugby League competition. While home games will be played at The Friarage, and this is where the name came from, the composition of the squad will be made up of players at clubs across the town and indeed the North. Plus some primarily league players. Already the Falcons have around 30 players registered or showing an interest. With Hartlepool being such a hot bed of rugby we are sure that there will be enough competition to rival Hartlepool Hurricanes, formerly West View Warriors.

Coach Ste Smith said that 'With the disrupted 2020/21 season we decided to play in the rugby league competition to give our players something to aim for when they return to training and to keep the momentum going across the summer. I am delighted with the buy in of players with excellent numbers taking part in our first training sessions last night and even more are scheduled for tonight. Training is on Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and also Saturdays. These sessions will be based on fitness and getting familiar with league rules. If you would like to get involved please turn up or contact me on 07817 789011. We welcome all players whatever their ability to give us a try out".

Fixtures , when known, will be available here https://www.rugby-league.com/leagues__competitions/north_east and look up the Facebook page for the North East Rugby League
